What is there to see and do in the area?

Your stay at the Tullie Inn on the "bonnie banks of Loch Lomond" gives you the ideal opportunity to go shopping in nearby Glasgow (only 30 minutes drive or take the train - The Tullie Inn is perfectly situated next to Balloch train station) or Stirling (40 mins by car), go sightseeing, or just to relax and soak up some of Scotland's most breathtaking scenery.

The Tullie Inn in Balloch is ideally situated at the gateway to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. There's lots to do on the loch in the heart of Balloch - enjoy some retail therapy at the Loch Lomond Shores. There you can enjoy a stroll around the outlet shops, take a boat trip up Loch Lomond, climb to the top of Drumkinnon Tower or hire bicycles or kayaks. Drumkinnon Tower plays host to the Loch Lomond Aquarium, the first new Sea Life Centre to be built in the UK for over 10 years.

The Loch Lomond Folk Festival is held annually in July in the town of Balloch. With bands performing over one whole weekend the festival now attracts visitors from all over the world.

Standing on the shores of Loch Lomond you can view Ben Lomond, one Scotland's Munros. Walking and climbing are popular in the area. Ben Vorlich, Ben Lomond & Ben Ime are just some of the 21 Munros to climb. Or wander through the tracks of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park or Balloch Country Park to Balloch Castle.

Directly opposite the Tullie Inn is the departure point for pleasure cruises on Loch Lomond.
A great day out for kids and families is a visit to Blair Drummond Safari Park, where you can drive up close to animals such as elephants, big cats, giraffes and many more.

Other pursuits in the area include sailing, riding, walking, jet skiing, canoeing, fishing, watching wildlife and much more.

Scotland is the home of golf and there are many golf courses in the area including Helensburgh, Clydebank and Cardross. The annual Scottish Open takes place in July at Loch Lomond Golf Club and the Tullie Inn is a perfect base to go and enjoy some excellent golf and spectacular views throughout the course.

The historic city of Stirling is only 40 minutes drive from Balloch. There you can enjoy excellent shopping with a mix of small local shops and larger department stores.

For an insight into Scottish history and some spectacular views over the city visit Stirling Castle. Just down from the castle you can also visit the Old Town Jail. William Wallace won the battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 you can visit the site or go to the world famous Wallace Monument and see Wallace's massive Broadsword on display.
